DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS OF THE FORGERY:

-shape of the head different with thick neck; pigtail shaped like a stalactite; medallion occupies most of the inner shield in the forgery; "RR" in "CORREIO" and both "R" and "S" in "REIS" very differently shaped.

CARACTERÍSTICAS DISTINTIVAS DO FALSO:

-forma da cabeça diferente (notar a grossura do pescoço e a forma da trança de cabelo); medalhão central ocupa uma grande parte do escudo; letras diferentes, em particular os "R" e "S".

NOTES: The origin is unknown but the forger may have not had access to the actual stamp and used an illustration for model. The forgery must, thus, be quite old, probably XIX century.
