DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS OF THE FORGERY:

This is a puzzling forgery. It is embossed and the design is much more perfect than it looks but the inking is totally wrong and the print is warped and fuzzy. It may have been done from a plate made from an actual stamp with plaster of Paris or liquid rubber. It is interesting that someone tried to cancel it. Only the 5Reis was seen.

CARACTERÍSTICAS DISTINTIVAS DO FALSO:

O desenho é bastante perfeito e a impressão tem relevo mas a tintagem é muito má, distorcida e com margens irregulares. O papel tem marcas de estiramento que se veem na imagem. A chapa pode ter sido feita a partir de um selo com borracha líquida ou gesso. Só conheço o valor acima (5 réis num violeta afim do dos 100 réis Borja Freire).
