Mobitec was a French
brand of the toy maker Montblanc. Montblanc started selling a LEGO
clone under its own name in the 1960s. Later it was sold under its
own brand MOBITEC. Montblanc/MOBITEC is a clone of the 1956
LEGO, the last pre-"Patent Pending" brick issues, with
the studs hollowed from the bottom. But the studs have a smaller
diameter and so they do not connect with LEGO. However, the system
is quite likeable and the colours chosen with a French measure of
good taste.
